Debbies Case

This claim was brought on behalf of a young lady who was born severely handicapped as a result of congenital rubella syndrome.

It was alleged that the Health Authority failed to screen her mother for rubella during a previous pregnancy, at which time her immunity status would have been discovered and a simple vaccination performed to immunise her.

The claim was settled out of court for £625,000. It followed a related claim that we had previously successfully settled against the General Practitioner for a substantial amount, which can not be disclosed due to a confidentiality clause.
