E-Coli outbreak - 1 child died and many others injured

An outbreak in South Wales of E-Coli affecting many of the schools resulted in the death of one child and injuries to many others. The families (and some school children) were represented in the Welsh Assembly Government's first Public Inquiry which sat through 2008 and whose judgment was published in summer 2009. This was important in rebuilding confidence in the school meals system for these families with an examination of the food process from "field to fork" and at the same time compensation was obtained for the victims and their families.
